Swiss House transformed into a ballroom at the Austrian Culture Friday

Last week, Multilingua Language Centre hosted a special Austrian Culture Friday, welcoming a record number of participants! The event kicked off with a lively Kahoot quiz, won by an Austrian team, followed by an engaging German lesson by Kit Engel that gave everyone a hands-on language experience. Two junior ballroom dance couples—top competitors in their class—graced the stage with an elegant Viennese WaltzSlow Waltz and Tango, leaving the audience in awe. We sincerely wish to thank Dance Team Royal for coming to our event!

Consul Irene Schauer-Larimian from the Embassy of Austria in Tallinn shared insights into Austria’s ball season, highlighting how Vienna has become the ballroom capital of the world, now hosting over 400 ball events annually. Although rooted in French traditions, Austria has made the ball season its own, evolving from a high-society debutante event into a celebration of culture that draws visitors globally. Did you know that at the famous Vienna Opera Ball, guests consume around 1,800 pairs of sausages, 800 bottles of champagne, and 800 bowls of goulash soup in one night? Talk about celebrating in style!

Our International Culture Fridays, held each month to celebrate our 30th anniversary, offer a rich dive into the languages and traditions of the countries we teach. We’ve got just two Culture Fridays left this year, so don’t miss your chance to join us!

We’re pleased to invite you to Turkish Culture Friday on the 15th of November!
