Zeidy Metsa

I graduated from the University of Tartu in 2005 with a degree in Hungarian language and literature, and later continued my education at Tallinn University, obtaining a Master’s degree in foreign language teaching in 2023. I have been teaching Estonian at Multilingua since 2023.

I want my students to feel at ease in their language lessons, have a laugh and forget their everyday worries for a moment. I believe in continuity and the power of habit in language learning. I use both traditional and modern teaching methods in my lessons. Naturally, I think of my best language teachers and try to follow their example.

As an adult educator, I: 

• prepare training plans and plan learning activities based on Multilingua curricula; prepare the training content and select the teaching methods based on the intended learning outcomes and previous feedback; 

• create a physical, mental, and social environment conducive to language learning; base my approach on the learners’ needs and adapt learning stages or working methods as required; support the learners, notice and recognise changes in the learners’ development, and respond to situations in the learning process in a supportive manner; 

• analyse the learning process, assess learners’ learning outcomes;  

• analyse and evaluate my own activities in the learning process; recognise my strengths and development needs; engage in continuous professional development; update training content and teaching methods, revising and modernizing them as needed; 

• use relevant information and communication technology (ICT) tools (e.g., interactive smartboards, online platforms such as Zoom and/or Teams, ML information system, cloud services such as Google Drive and/or OneDrive, e-learning platforms, etc.) in the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of the teaching and learning process, as well as for supporting my own professional development; am able to create, use, and share web-based learning materials. 

I was an Erasmus+ exchange student at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. I participated in an Erasmus+ project in 2018 on the topic of „Non-formal Education“. 

I have created supplementary tasks to support textbook materials using platforms such as LearningApps, Wordwall, and Quizlet.
