I have been a Swedish teacher since 2003. In 2002, I graduated from the Tallinn Pedagogical University in the specialty of Swedish Philology. Over the years, I have taught Swedish to learners of a wide range of ages, starting with elementary classes all the way to adults. In my lessons, I consider it important to immediately be able to use the learned skills, because language is a communication tool. In terms of the methodology, I often use playful techniques to learn words or to explain grammar and also to have fun.
As an adult educator, I:
- identify the needs and expectations of the study group, prepare the training content, and select appropriate methods based on the intended learning outcomes and previous feedback; prepare, compile, and adapt learning materials based on the curriculum/training programme;
- create a physical, mental, and social environment conducive to language learning; support the learners, notice and recognise changes in the learners’ development, and respond to situations in the learning process in a supportive manner;
- analyse the learning process and assess learners’ learning outcomes;
- engage in professional development, update learning content and teaching methods by revising and modernising them when necessary; reflect on and analyse my professional role and behaviour; seek solutions when problems arise;
- use relevant information and communication technology (ICT) tools (e.g., interactive smartboards, online platforms such as Zoom and/or Teams, ML information system, cloud services such as Google Drive and/or OneDrive, e-learning platforms, etc.) in the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of the teaching and learning process, as well as for supporting my own professional development.
I use platforms such as Sisuloome (content creation), Quizlet, and LearningApps to create study materials.
