Elo Rohult

In 1996 I received a certificate of proficiency of a teacher of Estonian as a foreign language from the University of Tartu, and since then I have taught people of all nationalities and ages, including reminding the Estonians themselves of the correct use of their mother tongue. I have been working at Multilingua since 2018.

As a person and a teacher, I can perhaps be best characterized as a very curious person, and I just enjoy interacting with my students and getting to know new worlds through them. But more importantly, every student also shows me my mother tongue, Estonian, in a new light, both through what there is and what there is not. So, simultaneously with teaching, I learn, and it has been this charming role-cycling that has kept my profession and work fresh and captivating for me for over 20 years.

As an adult educator, I: 

• Identify the needs and expectations of the study group, and create or adapt the learning materials based on the curriculum or training plan;  

• base my approach on the learners’ needs and adapt learning stages or working methods as required; support the learners, recognise changes in the learners’ development, and react to situations in the learning process in a supportive manner;  

• continuously gather feedback from the learners about the learning process; 

• pay attention to my physical, mental, and emotional well-being, maintain a healthy work-life balance; engage in continuous professional development, revise and update the learning content and teaching methods by revising them when necessary; 

• use relevant information and communication technology (ICT) tools (e.g., interactive smartboards, online platforms such as Zoom and/or Teams, ML information system, cloud services such as Google Drive and/or OneDrive, e-learning platforms, etc.) in the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of the teaching and learning process, as well as for supporting my own professional development; am familiar with the possibilities of digital learning and can use appropriate methods for delivering digital learning in adult education. 

I am a member of the Association of Teachers of Estonian as a Second Language (EKTKÕL). 

I take part in Multilingua’s in-house training courses.
