Ukrainian language teacher Dmytro Kryvonos
I am a native speaker of Ukrainian with an academic background in languages, philology and language teaching. I completed my master’s degree at the University of Tartu Narva College in 2025 and have been teaching Ukrainian at Multilingua since 2025.
My teaching experience is focused entirely on adult learners with different professional backgrounds and language levels. I have worked with employees of the Chancellery of the Estonian Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and military personnel. I have taught both complete beginners starting Ukrainian from zero and advanced learners at C1 level. This experience has taught me to adapt the content, pace, and teaching methods to each learner’s level, professional background, and individual goals.
In my lessons, I aim to make Ukrainian a living and practical language rather than simply a collection of grammar rules. I pay particular attention to communication and encourage students to start using the language from the very beginning. At the same time, I believe that understanding grammar provides learners with a solid foundation and helps them become more independent language users.
I use dialogues, speaking activities, texts, audio and video materials, presentations, and interactive exercises. Where appropriate, I also introduce students to Ukrainian culture, history and everyday life, because I believe that learning a language is closely connected with understanding the people and culture behind it.
In addition to my linguistic education, I have a legal education and studied at the Faculty of International Law. This helps me understand and use professional legal terminology and can be particularly useful when teaching learners whose work relates to law, public administration, international relations, or related fields.
When teaching adults, I try to create a supportive and relaxed atmosphere where students are not afraid to make mistakes. For me, mistakes are a natural part of language learning and an important step towards becoming more confident and independent in using the language.
I regularly develop my teaching materials and look for new methods and digital tools that can make language learning more effective, varied, and engaging.
Russian language teacher Dmytro Kryvonos
My academic background is closely connected with the Russian language, philology and language teaching. I completed my master’s degree at the University of Tartu Narva College in 2025 and have experience teaching Russian as a foreign language to adult learners with different levels and learning goals.
In 2024, I completed a teaching internship at a language school in Poznań, Poland, where I gained additional practical experience in teaching Russian as a foreign language. At Multilingua, I teach Russian both individually and in group courses.
My approach to teaching Russian combines communication with a systematic understanding of the language. Russian grammar can initially seem complicated, so I try to explain grammatical structures clearly and show how they function in real communication rather than teaching rules in isolation.
Depending on the learners’ needs, we may focus on everyday communication, professional vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, listening comprehension, or developing speaking confidence.
In addition to my linguistic education, I have a legal education and studied at the Faculty of International Law. This allows me to work confidently with professional terminology in legal and related fields. It can be particularly useful for students whose professions relate to law, public administration, international relations, or other areas where specialized vocabulary is important.
In my lessons, I use authentic texts, dialogues, audio and video materials, presentations, interactive exercises, and digital learning tools. I am also interested in literature, history, and culture, and use cultural materials when they help students understand the language in a broader context.
I believe that adults learn most effectively when they understand why they are doing a particular task and can immediately see how new knowledge can be applied. Therefore, I try to make my lessons structured, practical, and engaging.
My goal as a teacher is not only to explain the language but also to help learners become more confident and independent in using it.
