Tiina Truuts

I graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical Institute in 1981. I have a university degree and have worked as a class teacher in a general education school.

I have been working at Multilingua since 2023, teaching Estonian to adults, young people, and children. I have conducted in-house language lessons for both groups and individual learners.  I have also worked with private students, and I have taught both contact and online lessons. Between 1991 and 1997 I taught Estonian at the Pharmaceutical Factory, the Prison Service, the Plywood and Furniture Factory, and other institutions. I have participated in various Estonian language teaching projects.

I consider it important that learners come to class in a good mood, their language skills develop and they enjoy what they have learned.

During the lessons, I inspire and encourage the learner to express themselves. I try to be a cooperative partner, introduce Estonian traditions and customs, create a pleasant working atmosphere, and make the learning process varied and enjoyable.

It is important to motivate the learners, to create a free and pleasant learning environment, and to maintain constant communication. Communication and the expression of opinions have an important place in every lesson. I consider it important to stimulate interest in Estonian language and culture. It is important that the learning process is enjoyable, that there is joy in communication in the lessons. The learning takes place through role-playing, working in pairs or groups. I use a variety of handouts in my lessons. When working with children, it is important to use visualisation, learning songs and movement, as well as varied activities in class.

I am calm, cheerful and friendly. I also learn through teaching and enjoy my work.
